New Years Eve 2018 Prix Fixe menu announced! Five courses with wine & cocktail pairings for $80, without pairings $60. 1. Ajo blanco 2. Root vegetable salad with roasted beets, candied onions, pickled purple daikon raddish, baby greens 3. Cacao rubbed lamb loin chop, sweet potato bordelaise 4. Leg of smoked pork, roasted garlic and golden potato puree, candied fennel 5. Kabocha squash flan, honey almonds, buttermilk ricotta A few reservations still remain. Dear Friends, We are Mark and Jade Paterno, a local couple who purchased Devotay in December of 2017. As most of you know, Devotay has been a staple in the Northside neighborhood for the past 22 years. Opened in 1996 by the late Kurt Friese and Kim Friese, Devotay has served as a pioneer and leader of the local & slow food movement here in Iowa City and arguably beyond. The current menu features Spanish-inspired tapas that are created with as many locally sourced ingredients as possible. With a heavy heart, we now announce that we will be closing Devotay on New Year’s Eve and will reopen as a new restaurant in January, 2019. The restaurant scene has changed dramatically over the last 22 years and we must evolve as well if we hope to stay competitive. In the simplest of terms, Devotay worked with Kurt and Kim at the helm. Unfortunately, we were unable to make the Devotay model work for us. While we deeply love Devotay and are sad to see it close, we are also excited and optimistic to create a new restaurant of our very own. Our goal with the new restaurant will once again be to offer exceptional food, but with a more familiar menu. We will still offer dinner service during our farewell period Tuesday through Sunday, as well as Sunday brunch. We hope you will all stop in during the next month for another Devotay experience. We will announce details about our new restaurant and menu soon. We sincerely hope you’ll stop by and give us a try. Devotay gift cards will still be honored when we reopen.
